In a climate of utmost treachery, where Saxons still intrigued against their Norman invaders, Royce and Nicholaa reveled in their precious new love……… a fervent bond soon to be disrupted by the call of blood, kin and country!”
This is one of my Julie Garwood’s favorite. On how she described her heroin, Nicholaa, who was so sweet, gentle and innocent. Who smelled like a flower. Yet she was good at using a sling.
Nicholaa is the saxon Prize, taken from her home by her captor, Baron Royce, who brought her to the English court ruled by Willliam the Conqueror, where his knights must fights in order to have her hand, but in the end the king let Nicholaa choose her own husband/lord for she saved the King’s niece.
During her captured, Nicholaa and Royce made a special bond, true that she irritated her, but in the good way. And as for Nicholaa, she never met someone as rigid as Royce, but she somehow knew that beyond his military discipline, his scorching kisses has set her blood on fire.
The real romance happened when they got married. How Nicholaa tried to understand Royce better, and how Royce tried to made Nicholaa to be the kind of wife he had in mind. They journey on living a marriage life was described well paced by JG, and I can see when they fall in love.
The romance was hot too, lots of kisses and tenderness..
In the end, Royce finally realize, that he didn’t want his wife to change, for Nicholaa brought surprises to his map-like life, and Nicholaa was just to happy to acknowledge that Royce finally accept her the way she were.
Yes there were some problem when it came to Nicholaa family, but Royce carefully took care of it.
This book is for the tender hearts, and definitely a keeper, should you love soft romance, you have to try to read this book, and I’m sure you will like it.
